Niger launches Armed Forces emblem appeal fund for 2025 Remembrance Day
The Niger State Government has launched the Armed Forces Emblem appeal fund for the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration. Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, who performed the ceremony at the Council Chamber, Government House, Minna, declared the sum of N50 million as the state government’s contribution to the emblem.
Governor Bago acknowledged and appreciated the sacrifices made by Nigerian fallen heroes in maintaining peace and unity in the country. He assured that his administration will continue to support the Nigerian armed forces through various means as they strive to ensure the peace and stability of the nation.
The governor also promised continuous support for the Nigerian Legion in the state, adding that the N50 million appeal fund from the state government was to help the Legion address some of its challenges.
The Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Niger State Chapter, Veteran Mahmud Ahmed Baba, expressed gratitude to the governor for his consistent support. He revealed that the N20 million given by the state government during the 2024 emblem appeal fund enabled the Legion to secure a permanent office, which was named after Farmer Governor Umaru Bago. Part of the funds was also used to cater to veterans in all 25 local government areas of the state, including widows and families of fallen heroes.
Veteran Ahmed Baba appealed to individuals and corporate organisations to donate generously to the veterans, giving them a sense of belonging.
The event concluded with the emblem decoration of the farmer governor, who is also the patron of the Nigerian Legion, Niger State, as well as the deputy governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba, and other top government functionaries.
