Niger Govt inaugurates committees on census, boundary dispute
The Niger State Government has established two special committees: a 21-member State Committee on Population and Housing Census and an 18-member Committee on Boundary Dispute between Bida and Kontagora Emirates.
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago inaugurated the committees on Thursday at the Council Chamber of Government House, Minna. He expressed confidence in the committee members and urged them to be committed and diligent in their duties. The governor assured them of his unwavering support to achieve their objectives.
Speaking to journalists after the inauguration, Mohammed Dattijo Usman, co-chairman of the Population and Housing Census Committee and Federal Commissioner representing Niger State at the National Population Commission, commended Governor Bago for the appointment. He emphasised the committee’s readiness to start work immediately and deliver the best results for the state and the nation.
The Population and Housing Census Committee is chaired by Deputy Governor Comrade Yakubu Garba, with Dr. Sylvester Christopher, Director-General of the Niger State Population and Census Directorate, as Secretary. The Boundary Dispute Committee is chaired by the Secretary to the State Government, Alh. Abubakar Usman, with Bar. Abbas Bello as Co-Chairman and Dr. Hussaini Abdullahi, Permanent Secretary of Lands, as Secretary.
