Niger Gov orders N80,000 monthly salary for casual hospital workers
In response to the outcry from casual employees at Minna General Hospital regarding their employment status, Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has mandated that all casual staff in hospitals across the state receive a monthly salary of N80,000.
The governor issued this directive while addressing aggrieved casual workers from Minna General Hospital, who reported being shortchanged during a recent conversion exercise initiated by the governor.
Governor Bago emphasised that this decision is crucial to ensure casual workers are compensated in accordance with the state's approved minimum wage. He acknowledged that it is not feasible to absorb all casual workers into the state civil service.
Additionally, the governor announced that casual workers with degree qualifications who have served for 10 to 15 years will receive automatic appointments. Those with diploma certificates will be appointed on probation, with the expectation that they upgrade their qualifications within three years.
Governor Bago reaffirmed his administration's commitment to the welfare of the state's residents.
