Niger State is off-limits for criminals, Niger NSCDC commandant declares
The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Niger State Command, Comdr. Adamu Abdullahi Kambra, has issued a stern warning to individuals involved in criminal activities to desist and allow peace to reign.
Comdr Kambra delivered this warning while parading suspects arrested for burglary and phone snatching within Minna metropolis. He emphasised that the command under his leadership will not tolerate any form of criminality in the state.
He urged the public to report any suspicious activities to security agencies for prompt action, assuring them that his officers are prepared to pursue criminals relentlessly. "Niger State is not a place for criminals to operate," he declared.
On December 27, 2024, four suspects broke into a residential house in the Sauka Kahuta area of Minna at around 4:30 am, threatening the occupants and demanding money. They made away with various items.
According to a statement by the Command Public Relations Officer (CDPRO), DSC Abubakar Mohammed Rabiu Muti, the suspects apprehended by the Operation Flush team include Usman Ibrahim (alias Abba Dawa), 22, and Jibrin Muhammed, 22. Other suspects involved in the burglary but currently at large are Baba Alhaji and Dan Birnin Gwari. Those arrested for phone snatching are Aliyu Abubakar Muhammed, 27, and Aliyu Usman, 23.
Recovered items include a plasma television, a laptop computer, two bags of 5 kg rice, four mudus of beans, and five live chickens. Other stolen items were a travelling bag, five sets of clothing/wrappers, and cash amounting to N3,450.00.
The suspects arrested for phone snatching were caught red-handed with knives while threatening their victims returning from the Bosso area of Minna.
Comdr. Kambra stated that all suspects would be charged in court for prosecution as soon as investigations are concluded.
