Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Niger State, Barrister Nasir Mua'zu, has reiterated the present administration of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago's commitment to the provision of an enabling and conducive environment for businesses and investment to thrive in the state.
Speaking while declaring open a two-day workshop on procedures in civil service for staff on Directorate Cadre and Chief State Counsels at the Ministry of Justice Conference Hall on Tuesday, Nasiru Muazu stated that the workshop was aimed at refreshing the participants and equipping them to meet the new Niger Agenda of the present administration.
The attorney general pointed out that, as part of the administration's commitment to encourage investment in the state, Governor Umar Mohammed Bago has mandated all agencies in the state to give priority to training and refresher courses for their workforce.
He said the workshop was unique as it would provide the participants with the opportunity to acquire new knowledge on current and best practices in civil service procedures in line with the vision of the New Niger Agenda.
Barr. Nasiru Muazu said the agenda cannot be achieved without the requisite human capital development and institutions for the implementation of government policies and plans as they relate to the justice sector.
The state commissioner of justice stressed the need for the participants to take advantage of the workshop to improve the services that will be rendered subsequently.
He also advised them to cascade the knowledge they acquire to other officers under their supervision for the sustainability of the knowledge and services of the ministry.
In her welcome address, the Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Hajiya Maryam Ahmed, stated that the objectives of the training were to prepare the participants on the processes and procedures in civil service, with particular reference to the unique place of the Ministry of Justice in state governance.
Hajiya Maryam Ahmed noted that the workshop was being organised to refresh the knowledge and skills of the participants in order to make them more competent in fulfilling their roles and responsibilities effectively and efficiently.
