Kano State Government has reaffirmed its dedication to work closely with the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), to uplift women’s status to international standard.
The State Commissioner of Women, Children and Disabled, Hajiya Aisha Lawan-Saji, made the pledge while receiving the executives of Kano NAWOJ in her office.
According to her, the strength of female journalists should not be under rated, due to their contributions to the development of the entire nation.
She urged NAWOJ executive members to work towards aiding the success of the ministry by disseminating information about its activities.
“The success of the ministry is equally a success of Gov. Abba Kabir-Yusuf, whose concern for the plight of women, children and People With Disability (PWD) is beyond doubt.”
The commissioner also urged female journalists to cover and spread the numerous activities of the ministry in the course of their official assignments.
Responding, the Chairperson, Kano NAWOJ, Hajiya Hafsat Sani-Usman, said the association would provide all the necessary support, to collaborate with the ministry and NGOs, to promote and protect the rights of women, children and the vulnerable in the state.
“We are here at the ministry to congratulate the commissioner and introduce ourselves as the executives of NAWOJ, Kano State Chapter,” Sani-Usman said. (NAN)
