NUJ applauds Aisha Wakaso for mentoring young female journalists

Winners of Wakaso Award for young female journalists have been told to see their victory as a stepping stone for participation in higher competitions.
The Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Niger State council, Comrade Abu Nmodu, gave the charge when he received the winners in his office shortly after the competition held at NAWOJ office, IBB Pen House Minna on Monday.
The award was an initiative of the Adviser to the Governor on Print Media Aisha Wakaso, to mark her forty eighth birthday.
Comrade Abu Nmodu commended the initiator for her foresight, adding that, the gesture would motivate young female Journalists to engage in research and other academic activities that would enable them realize their potential.
The Chairman of NUJ assured them of the Union's preparedness to support any initiative geared towards the educational development of members.
Also speaking, the Special Guest of Honour and a seasoned broadcast journalist, Hajiya Sua'd Lami Yakawu, urged female journalists to work hard so as to excel in the profession.
She commended Aisha Wakaso, for the initiative and urged her not to relent.
Earlier the initiator of the award Aisha Wakaso, said the occasion was to encourage hard work and perseverance among female journalists, to enable them surmount the challenges in the profession with vigour and determination.
