The Nigerian Army will continue to be involved in training and retraining its officers and men for effective and enhanced professionalism, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.Gen. Tajudeen Lagbaja, has said.
He noted that the Nigerian Army was involved in a plethora of activities spanning a wide range of military operations, from conventional military engagements.
Addressing participants at the Headquarters of Doctrine and Training Command (TRADOC), 2024 Conference held at the TRADOC Auditorium in Minna on Tuesday, the Chief of Army Staff stated that the conference was designed to enhance the application of the Nigerian Army Doctrine 22 as an enabler for the conduct of effective training and operations.
According to him, the military engagements included military operations other than war, such as peace support operations, counterinsurgency, terrorism, and anti-banditry operations.
The Chief of Army, who was represented by the Chief of Training of the Nigerian Army Headquarters, Major General Sani Gambo Mohammed, noted that the Nigerian Army was required to train, plan, and execute the database for effective operations.
"These operations are in line with extant Doctrine 22, which is codified as proactive responsive doctrine and leverages the pillars of leadership, operational effectiveness, and administration towards addressing contemporary security challenges within a joint environment," he stated.
According to him, the conference, with the theme "Enhancing Operational Effectiveness in a Joint Environment Through Tailor-Made Training," will ultimately serve to redirect, re-align, and inspire action from officers and soldiers, as well as guide decision-making to lead the Nigerian Army to victory.
Speaking earlier, the Commander Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Nigerian Army Major Gen. K. O. Aligbe, disclosed that the command under his leadership was committed to training, welfare, and morals, which according to him were essential elements of military readiness.
He pointed out that the TRADOC, as a training base of the Nigerian Army, will continue to impact military training on officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army to enhance their productivity, ensuring that the command will continue to live up to its mandate of training and retraining the military personnel to impact their knowledge in the discharge of its duty.
