The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the School Feeding Programme, Dr. Yetunde Adeniji, has said that the programme is undergoing some structural reorganisation for the sake of sustainability.
Dr. Adeniji made this disclosure when she was received on a courtesy visit by the Deputy Governor of Niger State, Comrade Yakubu Garba, on behalf of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, in his office on Tuesday.
She noted that for everything in life, there are always some challenges, and the school feeding programmeme is not an exception. But the beautiful part of it was that her office was trying to streamline and ensure that the programmeme runs seamlessly, as the president was so passionate about it.
"Mr. President is passionate about the programmeme; he is passionate about the Nigerian children, and right now steps and initiatives have been taken to ensure that the programmeme comes back on board and is in full swing," she explained.
Adeniji added that they were doing everything possible to ensure that the programme this time around has the sustainability to surpass this present administration for many years to come.
She also revealed that she and her team were in the state on solidarity and to familiarise themselves with the people of Niger State, explaining that the school feeding programmeme is a programmeme where every Nigerian child has access to a nutritious meal a day.
The school feeding programme boss added that they were in the state to preach the good gospel of the programme to ensure that every stakeholder in the programmeme was carried along and understood the objectives of the programme.
She equally appealed to all stakeholders to be part of the programme to ensure that it was smooth in such a way that its sustainability would continue to be there for years.
Responding, the governor described the school feeding programme as very vital to the state and that the government was very passionate about it as it is not a new programme in the state.
He advised that we must think and act as Nigerians to change the narratives, adding that to make the programme a successful one, we must not compromise, and described the programme in Niger State as a success story.
While appreciating the SSA to President Tinubu and her team for the visit, he assured them of making a move to upgrade the programme from primary 1-3 to at least primary 4.
