Gov Umaru Bago attends meeting on implementation of FULAKO initiative
Niger State Governor, Hon. Mohammed Umaru Bago, has joined other governors from the Northern Region in a meeting with Vice President Kashim Shettima on the implementation of the pilot programme of the Fulako settlement initiative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The meeting, which was held at the Vice President's Conference Hall, Presidential Villa Abuja, was chaired by the Vice President.
The FULAKO programme was initiated to serve as a strategic and sustainable response to the challenges of displacement caused by insecurity in the seven northern states of Niger, Kaduna, Benue, Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto, and Katsina State.
The Minister of Information, Alhaji Mohammed Idris Malagi, while speaking during the central council meeting of Jamaatul Nasir Islam in Minna last month, said the Fulako initiative was a non-kinetic approach that entails the construction of houses, roads, schools, and other essential facilities for those displaced as a result of insecurity.
At the meeting, VP Kashim Shettima implored them to work assiduously for the success of the programme, which would bring overall development to the nation.
He said the initiative was a fulfilment of one of the promises made by the president to create an environment where the prosperity of the people would not remain a dream but a tangible reality.
