NGHA calls for improvements on FG roads across Niger State
The Niger State House of Assembly has called on the executive arm of government to, as a matter of urgency, impress upon the Federal Government to complete the ongoing Minna-Sulaje road and other federal roads across the state to reduce road carnage.
The member representing Suleja Constituency, Hon. Murtala Adamu Badaru, who moved the motion, said that the rate of accidents occurring along the Minna-Suleja road daily was worrisome, as such, and called for the Executive Arm to impress on the FG to complete these roads.
Hon. Badaru said that the Minna-Suleja road reconstruction contract was awarded by the FG in 2007 during the period, and up to date, the job has not been completed.
He added that even other contracts awarded by the FG, like the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano road and the Abuja-Keffi-Lafia road, among others, have reached an advanced level compared to the Minna-Suleja road contract.
After exhaustive debate on the issue, the House agreed that the executive arm should swiftly impress on the FG to fast-track work on FG roads as well as the intervention work to be embarked on by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
The Assembly resolved that the personnel of the Traffic Vanguard should be deployed to the hot spots that are prone to accidents, especially on the Minna-Suleja Road, as well as provide road sign posts.
