Sallah celebration: Niger police command orders massive deployment of personnel
Niger State Commissioner of Police, CP Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, has directed the massive deployment of over 2,500 personnel with operational assets to provide adequate security coverage for all Eid praying grounds, recreational centres, amusement parks, and other public places, including critical infrastructure for public safety, towards ensuring a peaceful atmosphere before, during, and after the Eid el Fitr celebration in all 25 LGAs of the state.
The commissioner of police, according to a press release issued by the command PPRO SP Wasiu Abiodun and made available to Newsline, directed the department of operations, area commanders, and DPOs during the command's management meeting to dominate public places, ensure visibility policing with constant supervision, and embark on confidence-building patrols to all nooks and crannies of the state for a peaceful celebration.
The CP further reiterated that horse racing within the Minna metropolis would not be tolerated but would only be allowed in the designated areas.
He informed the officers, however, that an operation order for the occasion has been issued for necessary action and guidance.
CP Shawulu Danamamman then felicitates with Nigerlites and residents of the state, most especially the Muslim faithfuls, on the occasion of Eid el-Fitr.
He also thanked members of the public for their support of the police and called on parents in the state to warn their wards against any act that will disrupt public peace, as the police and other security agencies will fully be on the ground to surmount any act that may cause a breach of public peace.
Mr. Shawulu, however, admonished all the Muslim Ummah not to forget the teachings of the holy month that they have learned during Ramadan that preach love for one another, sacrifice, and holiness, as he wishes them a joyous and hitch-free celebration.
