The governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has described the killing of a captain and five soldiers in an ambush by bandits in Allawa village, Shiroro Local Government Area of the state, as atrocious, provocative, and unacceptable.
The governor, in a message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, expressed deep sadness and sympathy over the incident.
He assured the Nigerian Army and other conventional and non-conventional security agencies of his administration's commitment to providing the needed support towards halting the nefarious activities of bandits.
He also used the opportunity to commiserate with the families of the slain officers and men, promising that their deaths would not be a waste.
Recall that bandits on Friday ambushed and killed soldiers and a lone vigilante while responding to a distress call around Bassa and Alawa communities in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
