The Commissioner of the Niger State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure Development, Suleiman Umar, has expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done on the Bida Ring Road project.
The Commissioner disclosed this in continuation of the inspection of state government road contracts under the Urban Renewal Project of the Governor Umar Muhammed Bago Administration.
The 44-kilometre Bida bye-pass road project awarded last year by Governor Umar Muhammed Bago is expected to facilitate the free flow of traffic and also facilitate the expansion of the ancient town of Bida.
Inspecting the project, works commissioner Umar Suleiman explained that the exercise was to fast-track the completion of the projects as well as ensure that they were executed according to specification.
He commended the construction company on the level of mobilisation and the quality of work done, urging them to ensure conformity to standards.
The commissioner added that the project will be fully monitored to achieve value for money by the government.
The Chairman of the New Niger Project, Mustapha Abubakar, said the project is critical to the people of Bida, the state, and the country at large.
He said the road is part of the strategic projects under the New Niger Project design to facilitate the vision of the urban renewal project.
The contactor handling the project, Mahmod Ismail, and the site engineer, Sulaimon Olubode, who briefed the delegation on the scope and progress of the work, assured the timely completion of the project.
They maintained that the project has received adequate mobilisation as concrete work has already commenced on about 30 percent of the road and the casting of most identified culverts has been completed.
