Police arrest electric cable vandals in Magama LGA
Police operatives attached to the Nasko Division of the Niger State Command have arrested two suspects for vandalism and theft of transformer cables.
The Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, in a press release issued and signed by him and obtained by Newsline, disclosed the names of the suspects as Jibrin Dahiru, 26 years old, of Mamba village, Magama LGA, and Buhari Umar, 22 years old, of Nasko.
Jibrin Dahiru, according to the press release, was suspected and was arrested as a member of a vandalization syndicate responsible for vandalising cables at Nasko, Salka, Gwagwade, Tunga-Kade village, and Mamba, all in Magama LGA of the state.
The PPRO disclosed that the suspect had, during interrogation, confessed to the act and mentioned that he conspired with one Ibrahim from Sokoto State, now at large, to vandalise cables, while he also mentioned Buhari Umar as one of the receivers.
Other receivers mentioned were Alhaji Bashiru Abdulrahman and Shuiabu, all of Sokoto State, presently at large.
The suspects, the PPRO said, have been transferred to SCID for a discrete investigation.
The state police command, according to the press release, appreciates Nigerlites and residents for giving useful information to the police and other security agencies in the state for necessary intervention towards making society a better place.
The statement advised members of the public to endeavour to call the police command control room anytime they suspect any criminal activities.
