Gov Bago advocates continued military support to tackle insecurity
Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, emphasized his administration's commitment to collaborating with the Federal Government in supporting the Nigerian Army and the Armed Forces at large. Speaking during the inauguration of the new Nigerian Army Armoured Corps Headquarters complex, as well as the reunion and pulling-out parade of retired Army Generals in Bauchi, Governor Bago expressed his unwavering dedication to enhancing security efforts.
Represented at the event by the Commissioner for Homeland Security, Gen. Muhammad Abdullahi Bello (Rtd), Governor Bago lauded Lt. Gen. Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), for his tireless leadership in guiding the Nigerian Army. Notably, the new Nigeria Army Armoured Corps Complex was named after Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, a highly respected elder statesman who has significantly contributed to nation-building, particularly in the realms of human capital development and infrastructure.
Highlighting Gen. Babangida's pivotal role as an outstanding Armoured Officer, Governor Bago emphasized that his contributions to the development of the Armour corps and, by extension, the Nigerian Army are immeasurable. The newly inaugurated Nigerian Army Armoured Corps Headquarters complex stands as a testament to the remarkable and uncommon service rendered by retired Army officers, who laid a strong foundation for a better nation.
Governor Bago underscored that the event provided a platform for serving officers to reunite with their veterans during the retirement ceremony. He reminded them of the enduring bond that binds them and praised the retiring officers for their exemplary service, leadership, and sacrifices. Their legacy, he asserted, would continue to inspire both current and future generations.
