New Red Cross executive urged to build on success of predecessors
The recently elected executive members of the Niger Branch of the Nigerian Red Cross Society have received a resounding call to build upon the achievements of their predecessors. Dr. Adamu Babale, the National Disaster Adviser of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, emphasized the importance of continuity and dedication to humanitarian service during his address following the successful election held at the branch secretariat in Minna.
Dr. Babale urged the new executives to wholeheartedly commit to delivering essential humanitarian services in alignment with the seven fundamental principles of the Red Cross. These principles: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality, guide the organization's mission to alleviate suffering and promote well-being.
In addition to continuity, Dr. Babale stressed the need for inclusivity within the new leadership. Effective service delivery requires collaboration, empathy, and a commitment to reaching all segments of the community. He commended the peaceful and smooth conduct of the state branch election, encouraging members and volunteers to support the incoming leadership.
Barrister Shehu Imam Danmasani, the newly elected chairman of the Niger Branch, expressed gratitude to the delegates and stakeholders for their confidence. He assured them of transparent, excellent, and purposeful leadership dedicated to the growth and development of the branch.
As the immediate past chairman, Alhaji Hamisu Musa Jankaro, offered his farewell address, he highlighted the importance of addressing indiscipline among members and volunteers. Upholding discipline ensures the effective functioning of the Red Cross and strengthens its impact on the community.
The newly elected executives concluded the ceremony by taking the oath of office and allegiance, symbolizing their commitment to serving humanity and upholding the Red Cross principles.
