NLC president, Niger NUJ pay condolence visit to Niger dep gov
National President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, expressed heartfelt condolences during his visit to the Deputy Governor of Niger State, Comrade Yakubu Garba. The purpose of the visit was to console the Deputy Governor over the loss of his wife, Hajiya Zaynab Yakubu Garba.
Comrade Ajaero, who was represented by his deputy and National President of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, Comrade Dr. Kabir Ado Minjibir, emphasised that the passing of Hajiya Zaynab Yakubu Garba is a significant loss not only to Niger State but also to the entire organised labour community.
The late Hajiya Zaynab Yakubu Garba was described as a caring mother, a kind-hearted woman, a devoted Muslim, and a philanthropist. Her life was dedicated to the well-being of women and children, and her wise counsel and service to humanity will be sorely missed.
Comrade Ajaero encouraged the Deputy Governor to find solace in the knowledge that death is an inevitable part of every living soul's journey. He also offered prayers for forgiveness for the departed and strength for the family members, especially the Deputy Governor and the organised labour community in Niger State.
In response, the State Deputy Governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba, expressed gratitude to the NLC national headquarters for their support during this difficult time. He acknowledged that he had accepted his wife's passing with grace and prayed for abundant rewards from God for those who stood by him and his family.
The condolence delegation included prominent figures such as the Secretary General of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN), Comrade Auwalu Yusuf Kiyawa, the Vice President of the North Central Zone of MHWUN, Comrade Muritala, the National Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the union, Comrade Dennis Yisa Nyang, and Comrade Idris Abdulkareem Lafene from the Niger State NLC.
Similarly, the Niger State Council Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Abu Nmodu, led a separate delegation consisting of some State Working Committee (SWC) members of the Union, veterans, and NAWOJ officials to the Deputy Governor's official residence. While NUJ officials had already visited earlier as part of the organised labour delegation, the journalists deemed it fitting to express their condolences as a professional body.
Special prayers were offered during both visits, seeking Allah's mercy for the soul of the deceased and her admission into Aljannah Firdausi.
