In a resolute stance against criminal elements targeting vital assets, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Niger State Command, has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to apprehending those responsible for vandalising critical infrastructure across the state.
At a recent briefing, the State Commandant of the Corps, Commandant Joachin Okafor, emphasised the urgency of the Commandant General of the Corps, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi's, directive to intensify security surveillance on national assets. The anti-vandal unit, acting on intelligence received on July 13, 2024, uncovered vandalised high-tension aluminium cables, metres, and railway tracks within a compound along Eastern Bye Pass in Minna.
This destructive activity occurs even as the federal government strives to restore the railway system and ensure uninterrupted electricity distribution nationwide. Commandant Okafor labelled these acts as "total economic sabotage" and pledged relentless efforts to apprehend the culprits.
Furthermore, the command expressed gratitude to Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago for providing essential vehicles, enhancing operational efficiency, and reinforcing their commitment to safeguarding national assets and critical infrastructure in Niger State.
