Police nab trio in motorcycle theft ring
In a significant breakthrough, the Niger State Police Command has apprehended three suspects in connection with the theft of a Hajoue motorcycle, registration number KNT 328 OB, in Kpakungu, Minna.
The Public Relations Officer of the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, revealed this development in a press release. According to the bulletin, the stolen motorcycle was reported on August 8, 2024, at approximately 0700 hours from Sagi Estate, Bida.
Upon receiving the report, the surveillance team at the Bida Area Command swiftly disseminated the information, leading to a successful outcome. The police patrol team from the Kpakungu Division arrested two suspects, Ahmed Nasir (24) and Abdullahi Ahmed (21), both residents of Sabongida Area, Bida, at Gidan Kwano with the stolen motorcycle.
Further investigations led to the earlier arrest of Abubakar Jibrin (32) from Dwayagi village near Bida on August 7, 2024. Jibrin was found with an unregistered Hajoue motorcycle at the same location. During interrogation, Nasir and Ahmed confessed to stealing the motorcycle from a student lodge in Bida and intended to sell it in Minna.
Jibrin also admitted that the motorcycle was handed to him by a notorious ex-convict named Dauda, who instructed him to deliver it to another suspect currently at large for sale in Minna.
The police are intensifying efforts to apprehend the fugitive suspect, and all arrested individuals will be prosecuted in the appropriate court in Bida.
