Niger State Assembly calls for action to end natives-Fulani clashes in Bosso
The Niger State House of Assembly has called on the executive arm of government to take proactive measures to end the annual clashes between the natives of the Beji community and Fulani herdsmen in Bosso Local Government Area.
This resolution was reached during the plenary session on Tuesday, following a matter of public importance raised by Abubakar Suleiman Gomna, the member representing Bosso constituency. Gomna expressed concern over the recurring clashes, which have resulted in the loss of lives and properties.
He urged the government to provide assistance to the families of those who lost their lives, as well as to those who lost farms, valuables, and sustained injuries during the recent crisis in the community.
To prevent such crises in Beji and other parts of the state, the legislators recommended that the executive arm organize a security summit to sensitize and analyze the frequency of insecurity in Bosso and other local government areas.
Additionally, the session, presided over by Deputy Speaker Hon Afiniki Eunice Dauda, established a 7-member committee chaired by the member representing Rijau Constituency. This committee, which includes members from Suleja, Tafa, Paikoro, Bosso, and Katcha, has been tasked with investigating the communal crises in Bosso, Agaie, and Katcha, and is expected to report back within three weeks.
