Emir of Agaie commends NSUBEB for basic education initiatives
The Emir of Agaie, Alhaji Yusuf Nuhu, has commended the Niger State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB) for its initiatives aimed at revitalising basic education in the state. This commendation was made during a visit by the NSUBEB school enrolment campaign team, led by the Chairman, Malam Muhammad Baba Ibrahim, who is also the Maiyakin Agaie, to the Emir's palace.
Reflecting on his experience as a teacher, the Emir highlighted the decline in educational standards over recent years and emphasised the urgent need for collective efforts to address the issue. He stressed the importance of teacher training and advocated for the reinstatement of grade two teacher training schools.
The Emir praised NSUBEB's steps to improve basic education, describing them as a positive direction for the state. He assured the board of his emirate council's full support and offered prayers for their success.
In Lapai, the Emir of Lapai, Alhaji Umar Bago Tafida, represented by the Secretary of the Emirate Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Jibrin Sheikh, echoed similar sentiments. He acknowledged that the concerns of the community were addressed by the NSUBEB Chairman's remarks and pledged the emirate's support for the enrolment drive.
The campaign team also visited Katcha Local Government, where the Sheshi Katcha and District Head, Alhaji Adamu Baba Katcha, expressed gratitude for the visit. He highlighted the historical significance of the primary school in Katcha town and requested improvements, including fencing the school.
Malam Muhammad Baba Ibrahim, in his remarks at Agaie, Lapai, and Katcha, emphasised the importance of community support in achieving the goals of the school enrolment campaign. He outlined the board's efforts to enhance basic education, including improving teachers' welfare and creating a conducive learning environment.
The traditional leaders' support underscores the collaborative effort needed to uplift the standard of education in Niger State.
