Niger gov donates N250 million to flood victims in Maiduguri, pledges medical support
Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has announced a donation of N250 million to support flood victims in Maiduguri, Borno State. Leading a state delegation to Maiduguri, Governor Bago expressed his sympathy to the government and people of Borno State following the devastating flood incident.
During a meeting with Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, Governor Bago described the situation as both devastating and worrisome, calling for support from all well-meaning Nigerians. He encouraged the people of Borno State to remain strong and keep faith in Allah, who makes no mistakes. He also urged them to support their governor in efforts to restore normalcy to their lives and livelihoods.
Governor Bago assured that health workers would be deployed for medical assistance if needed. In response, Governor Zulum appreciated the gesture from his Niger State counterpart and assured that the donated funds would be judiciously used to support the flood victims. He also commended Governor Bago for his developmental strides and for strengthening the relationship between the two states.
The Niger State delegation included members of the State Executive Council, Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Abubakar Usman, Special Advisers, Local Government Chairmen, and the Emirs of Borgu and Kagara. Special prayers were offered for the repose of the souls of the departed, healing for the injured, and for Allah to replenish lost properties and livelihoods, as well as to avert future occurrences.
The delegation also visited the Shehu of Borno's palace to commiserate with him and seek royal blessings.
