Niger NCEVECC commandant advocates for ethical revival, environmental protection
The Niger State Commandant of the National Community Ethics and Values Environmental Compliance Corps (NCEVECC), Abubakar Sa'adu Ndayako, has emphasized the critical need for behavioral change among Nigerians to foster a more peaceful society.
During a press briefing in his office, Ndayako outlined the recent initiatives undertaken by the organization. He stressed that the primary goal of NCEVECC is to revive the nation's eroded ethical values, which have significantly contributed to current societal challenges.
Ndayako highlighted that ethical conduct is essential in all aspects of life, including punctuality and respect for constituted authorities and traditional leaders. He urged parents and guardians to instill strong moral principles in their children and monitor their peer groups, recognizing the potential for both positive and negative influences.
Additionally, Ndayako addressed the issue of environmental degradation, which has severely impacted the ecosystem. He noted that the organization strongly opposes open defecation, a widespread problem in Niger State. He also pointed out logistical challenges, such as the lack of operational vehicles and funding, as primary obstacles.
Despite these challenges, NCEVECC boasts over 3,000 officers operating across the state's 25 local governments. Ndayako shared that recent operations in Minna and Bida led to the confiscation of expired products, including beverages and drugs valued at over N5 million, which were handed over to the appropriate authorities.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration with law enforcement agencies, the judiciary, and regulatory bodies such as the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
