Niger State Assembly calls for urgent road repairs, alternative routes
The Niger State House of Assembly has called on the executive arm to instruct contractors handling the reconstruction of the Minna-Kontagora road to provide alternative routes for road users.
During the plenary session, two motions of urgent public importance were presented. The first motion, by Hon. Zubairu Ismail Zannah (Rafi Constituency), urged the executive to repair the road from Zungeru to Garun Gabas. The second motion, by Hon. Sani Umar (Kontagora I Constituency), called for the provision of alternative routes by the companies handling the Minna to Kontagora road construction.
Both legislators highlighted the dangers posed by the current state of the road, including increased vulnerability to bandit attacks, time wastage, and traffic congestion.

Additionally, the House confirmed the nomination of Ahmed Abubakar as the new State Accountant General (AG), following a report by the Minority Leader, Hon. Andrew Doma, who praised Abubakar's record of service and extensive experience.
The session was presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Afiniki Eunice Dauda, in the absence of the Speaker.
