Niger State Chief Judge, Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik, has approved the use of official seals for magistrates in the state, as per the Administration of Criminal Justice Law 2022 (ACJL).
This announcement was made in a press statement by the Chief Registrar of the state high court, Hajiya Amina Musa Saidu, in Minna on Monday.
According to the Chief Registrar, the approval of official seals for magistrates is in accordance with Section 6B (3), (4), and (5) of the Niger State Administration of Criminal Justice Law 2022 (ACJL).
Hajiya Amina stated that the seals will be kept under the custody of each magistrate and used for all purposes as prescribed under the ACJL or any other applicable law.
“The seals may be used by the courts to authenticate documents and orders issued by magistrates, such as judgements, rulings, orders, and other documents requiring official endorsement,” she added.
The statement further detailed that the seals will include the names, designations, and inscriptions of the magistrates, aiding in the performance of their duties and providing authentication and security to the documents they sign.
