NSCDC Zone D ready to bolster security, curb vandalism in 2025
In a concerted effort to protect and combat all forms of vandalisation of critical national assets and infrastructures, the Zonal Commander of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for Zone D, covering Niger and Kwara Commands, ACG Shehu Magaji, has reiterated the Corps' readiness to reposition the operational activities for enhanced performance in the upcoming year.
ACG Magaji made this statement during an expanded meeting with the management team at the Zonal Headquarters in Minna. He emphasised that adequate support will be provided to state commands to improve their operational activities, with a focus on thwarting the activities of vandals. He stressed the necessity of this measure to prevent any form of vandalism from catching the Corps off guard.
The commander directed his management team and zone commanders to scale up surveillance and protection of critical national assets and infrastructures. "I don't want us to be taken unaware by the unscrupulous elements in society. I don't want to leave things to chance. We all know how critical our mandate is to the stability of national security and the economy," remarked ACG Magaji.
He disclosed that the briefing aimed to charge the management team with exploring proactive mechanisms within their capabilities and deploying responsive approaches to tackling security challenges. This aligns with the pragmatic principles of the current leadership of the Corps.
The Zonal Public Relations Officer, DSC Abdullahi Mohammed, stated that the expanded meeting was convened to brainstorm on the activities of the state commands under the purview of the Zonal Headquarters. The objective was to review operational strategies and chart a way forward on how best to redouble efforts in curtailing security threats to the lives and properties of law-abiding citizens.
