By Musa Mahmoud
The significance of steady and continued partnerships between energy providers such as DISCOS, AEDC, and other stakeholders has been emphasised once again. This was reiterated by the Chief Business Officer of AEDC Niger Zone, Engr. Sam Odekina, in an interview with Newsline at his office in Minna yesterday.
Engr. Odekina explained that such partnerships are crucial for enhancing efficiency in electricity supply to consumers in Niger State and across Nigeria. He highlighted the importance of synergy among all stakeholders to ensure a reliable and sustainable power supply.
While appreciating the significant efforts of the state governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, in illuminating Niger State, Engr. Odekina mentioned that some outdated power supply structures would be replaced where necessary to improve service delivery.
Dr. Odekina also addressed the issue of energy theft, warning that it has serious consequences. He stressed that honest consumers bear the cost through tariff sharing and that punitive measures will be enforced against those caught engaging in energy theft.
He appealed for the continued support of consumers in promptly paying for the electricity they receive, emphasising that cooperation is vital for maintaining a stable power supply. He urged consumers to steer clear of energy theft to ensure fairness and efficiency in the electricity distribution system.
The AEDC Niger Zone remains committed to fostering collaboration and improving the quality of electricity services for the benefit of all residents in the state.
