Former council chairmen in Niger hold inaugural meeting to foster development
The National Association of Former Elected Local Government Council Chairmen of Nigeria (NALGON EMERITUS), Niger State Chapter, has emphasised its commitment to the development of the country at all levels. This announcement was made during the association's inaugural meeting, which was declared open by the Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abdulmalik Sarkindaji, at the conference hall of the Assembly Complex in Minna.
In his address, Speaker Sarkindaji highlighted that the association is a non-political forum aimed at uniting former chairmen to work towards the common goal of advancing their localities.
The chairman of the meeting, Ambassador Ahmed Musa Ibeto, who is also a former deputy governor of Niger State, praised the interim committee for successfully organising the maiden meeting. He acknowledged the importance of the gathering in fostering connections among former chairmen, regardless of their political affiliations.
The meeting affirmed that the interim caretaker committee will continue managing the association's affairs for the next six months.
The former gubernatorial candidate under the People's Democratic Party (PDP) participated virtually, expressing his support for the association's objectives.
The association also commended former Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago for his significant contributions to infrastructural development across all 25 local government areas.
