Niger Police command decorates promoted personnel, present cheques to families of deceased officers

Not fewer than 513 junior police personnel from Niger State Command out of 31,465 recently promoted nationwide by the Inspector General of Police have been decorated by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ogundele Joshua Ayodeji, with their new rank.
CP Ogundele Joshua Ayodeji, was assisted with the decorations by the Deputy Commissioner of Police DCP Adamu Isa Ngogin and ACP Operations Yusuf Yelwa.
Speaking at the event, CP Ayodeji said 351 Sergeants were promoted to the rank of Inspectors while 162 were moved from Constables to Corporal respectively.
The commissioner while decorating the officers at his office in Minna, reminded them of their new responsibilites, adding that promotion attached additional task and charged them to be dedicated to duties, imbibe the spirit of positive change and be professional in the discharge of their policicing.
He further admonished them to lead by example, be a role model to other ranks and files in the force formation and urged them to pray that the promotion received and decoration should not be the last in the series.
In another development, Niger State Command of the Nigeria Police (NPF), on behalf of IGP Akali Baba Usman, has presented cheques of over N26.2 million to 15 families of deceased police personnel who lost their lives in line of duties.
Commissioner of Police Niger state command,CP Ogundele Joshua Ayodeji, who presented the cheques to the beneficaries at the state command headquartersMinna, however disclosed that 38 other families of police personnel who sustainedserious injuries in the course of carrying out their legitimate duties of policing, also benefitted from the cheques.
According to him, the presentation of the cheques to these families was in line with IGP Life Insurance Group (LIG), being introduced by his administration, to enable the affected families of police personnel to treat themselves as well as to cater for their needs.
He used the occasion to condole the Next of kin of the police personnel who died in active service and charged them to make judicious use of the money given to them to better their lives by engaging in meaningful venture that will uplift their families saying that the Group life insurance scheme iniated by the Inspector General of Police, (IGP) Akali Baba Usman was geared towards bringing succors to the families.
He then prayed for the repose of the departed souls and urged the families to bear the irreperable loss while wishing the injured quick recovery.
